I had to order the same car from 5 different dealerships before I found a honest dealership.
The first 4 dealerships would not commit to a final price in WRITING ✍️ They tell you verbally what you want to hear but they will not put it in writing.
WHY ? Because they want to add on options that you did not order. Also, I noticed that before your new car arrives, the dealership advertises for sale your exact specific car for a higher than MSRP sticker price. So, since you don’t have a written agreement as to the final price, they can gauge demand and try to charge you more or or sell it to the highest bidder because they own the car because you don’t have a written agreement.
So after I ordered 4 of the exact same car from 4 different dealers, when the cars finally arrived, the dealers tried to charge me $1,500 for LoJack that I never ordered. To add insult to injury is the fact that you can typically order LoJack installed for $695 in several retail locations. Also another dealer tried to charge me $2,000 for ceramic coating that I never ordered.
After the 4th dealership ordered the very same car for me because they told me that I wasn’t obligated to purchase it, I said OK then order it.
Then the 5th dealership did the right thing. They advertised 10% under MSRP and no additional dealer markups and I can have it in WRITING ✍️
THAT DEALERSHIP WAS MacMulkin in New Hampshire who is the dealership that orders the most Corvettes every year. They offer a curtesy delivery direct from the Bowling Green factory to your local dealership for only $800.
So since I was saving over $9,000 because of the 10% discount, I said OK, you’ve got a deal.
So, always get it in writing so there is no misunderstandings to leave yourself open to be taken advantage of after you waited 3 long months for your new car.
Don’t trust what they verbally tell you.
Be a knowledgeable consumer and always insist on getting it in writing ✍️
