Thanks for the Memories

Another year has drawn to a close and with its passing, we see changes in the weather and changes in the members of the COTV Leadership Team. Since 2015 was such a fantastic and jam-packed year for the Club, it is time to thank those who gave us their all and are taking a break from the arduous job of making everyone else’s life so much fun.

Thanks to HANS BOERS, a fantastic president for both 2014 and 2015, who used his managerial skills to move the Club forward to ever greater heights. As he found out, it’s like “herding cats” to get everyone going in the same direction both on the Leadership Team and in the general membership, but he did a great job. He was instrumental in moving the Car Show to the Promenade, in revising the by-laws to better express the goals of COTV, and in taking the club to new and interesting destinations like a nuclear submarine, Magnuson and Vortech Superchargers, and Red Rock Canyon in the Las Vegas area. Kudos also go to the First Lady, ALMA BOERS, for opening their home and being the consummate hostess for multiple Leadership Team and Car Show Committee meetings. Thank goodness, “Hansi Baby” has agreed to remain as Member-at-Large to provide continuity on the Team.

(Seen here in one of his more serious moments)

Thanks go to RAY MCINTOSH, who has taken on the roles of President, Activities Coordinator, Webguru and lastly Vice President during his membership tenure. We hope he will do some return performances with both “true stories” and “best in show” socks, but he will take a well-deserved break from the Board… although he continues to have an active role on the Team as Webguru.

Thanks go to VICKIE HACKWORTH, the Activities Coordinator who will be pretty much impossible to beat. Good thing Jim Sommars has a whole team helping him out going forward! Her organizational skills really showed with the Valentine’s trip to San Francisco and the Gumball Rally. In addition, she has provided us with several years of Christmas Parties par excellence and a host of new ideas, as well as making Breakfast Socials a Club fixture for the future. She has signed up to organize the 2016 picnic, so we haven’t lost her completely.

Thanks go to AL HACKWORTH, who has worn several hats during their membership time, including “assistant to Vickie”, but also Membership and Member-at-Large. He may no longer be on the Leadership Team, but we are sure he will have something to add conversationally at the general membership get-togethers and will continue to be an active part of the Club.

(The only sane couple on the Leadership Team)

Thanks go to DIANA RASH, who spent the year trying to put everyone’s comments into understandable English for the minutes, figure out who was who during the raffles and 50/50s and, most of all, translating Hans’ ideas into revised by-laws and policy statements. She will continue in an active role as Assistant to BILL RASH, the Membership Coordinator.

.

Please take time to add your personal thanks to these folk who gave unstintingly of their time and energy for a very miserly salary…absolutely nothing but the smiles they brought to COTV members’ faces.!
