Gordon addresses the Members just before Lunch!

 Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free;
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the Corvetteless,
Tempest-tossed Porschephiles  to me
I lift my lamp beside the C7’s Golden Door!

Randy and Angie Take the COTV on The Ride of Rides

Hosting a Mystery Lunch Run can be a mystery in its own right as you never know if the people who RSVP will turn up or if you will have 27 cars or 37 cars. The Smiths had RSVPs for 27 cars and 34 turned up at Kohl’s on a “partly cloudy” last Sunday in April. One thing we can be sure of, they put together one of the most detailed lists of directions we have seen. Getting 34 cars and 68 people around all the twists and turns and up and down all the hills required a lot of skill and teamwork and we all made it to lunch. When food calls, the COTV turns up!

We departed Kohl’s about 10am and took a circuitous route through the streets of Temecula and ended back on Pechanga Parkway. Although the written instructions were very detailed, since we don’t normally open them unless we are really lost we experienced the fact that the COTV can go the wrong way en masse. We can really follow each other well, even if it is the wrong way. So it took a little while to get us all back together, before we started our odyssey through Pala and Pauma, on to Cole Grade Road, through Valley Center and then wound our way back and forth and over and under the 15 via Lilac Road, Old Castle Road, Gopher Canyon Road, Old Hwy 395 and more (and sometimes on different parts of the same roads).

The final leg of the trip was on the 15 south to the 78 west and into San Marcos to the Old Spaghetti Factory. Randy and Angela had arranged for a separate room for the rowdy COTV gang with 4 choices of entrees (spaghetti marinara, spaghetti with meat sauce, chicken Marsala and lasagna.)  We selected the color coded slip that went with our choice and then sat for hot bread, salads, beverages, the entrees and spumoni ice cream. There won’t be many COTV wives worrying about putting dinner on the table after this lunch.

Thanks to Randy and Angela for all their effort and all of our fun! We really enjoyed ourselves.
