MENDOCINO TO HALF MOON BAY
Well, we got on the road before 8am and things went really well. Rob, the race driver, led us along the coast from Mendocino to Gualala until we stopped for breakfast at Trink’s. Everyone on the road pulled over and let us by, so we were really moving along. What a difference an hour for breakfast makes!!!
After breakfast, the traffic was totally different with a lot of inconsiderate and slow drivers in front of us. We took a 25 mile detour on the Annapolis and Skaggs Ranch “roads” which barely qualify as roads. But then we got back onto Hwy 1 and the traffic was crawling along.
So we reorganized our plans on the fly and got off at Jenner, taking the Russian River valley route through to Sebastopol and onto the southbound 101. Unfortunately, all the slow vacationers were over there as well. We got down to SF and over the Golden Gate Bridge and then crawled through town on Hwy 1 with half the world it seemed.
Finally broke through and came down through Pacifica and into Half Moon Bay, where we are now ensconced at the Oceano Hotel and Spa, a really nice place across from the harbor. Italian/sea food is on the menu for tonight. Tomorrow we head down to Cambria before moving on to Temecula and home.
