As usual when Lou Long leads a lunch run, a large group assembled at Paradise Chevrolet for coffee and donuts prior to our MLR to Slater’s 50/50 in San Diego. Among the guests was Wendell and Maria Locklin with their beautiful blue C-7. Wendell is the brother of Judy Mcintosh, our newsletter editor and long-time club member. After some socializing and picture taking, the group departed promptly at 9:00am. We travelled south on I-15 to Hwy 76 where we travelled west to Oceanside. From there, we enjoyed a very scenic drive along PCH for about 20 miles. In the area of Solana Beach, we came upon some sort of race or party for which the highway was closed to vehicle traffic. This is where the fun began; After numerous detours and stoppages, our beautiful convoy of Corvettes became many groups of 2 or 3 cars wondering where we were and where we were going. Somehow, we all managed to get to Slater’s where we enjoyed some very good service and food. An interesting note: There was a few cars that took a wrong turn in Oceanside and got on the freeway. They were the first to arrive at the destination. I suspect that some early opening of the instruction sheet may have occurred. All-in-all it was a fun day with great friends. Thanks to Lou Long and Jim and Diane Sommars for planning the outing.
