One Brave Soul

.

It was a dark and wet morning and our intrepid hostesses had no idea how many of the 55 COTV breakfast fans who sent in their RSVPs would brave this first of a series of storms forecast for the next few days to attend the first breakfast social of 2017.  Amazingly 45 of us thought eating with our friends was more important than staying dry, but only one was brave enough to get their Corvette wet.

.

Marie Callender’s had us set up in the back room where the Club used to have their meetings years ago.  As Dave Hellman noted, this is really a social group as when you looked around everyone was talking to each other instead of staring at the screen of their cell phones as you see in restaurants most of the time these days. John McDermott admitted to using his phone, but feels it was okay because he was looking up Corvette information.

.

The crowd consisted of some of the original or earliest members (Weeks, Crowthers, Sommars, Buotes, McIntoshes), some of the relatively long-term members (Boers, Glenores, Hackworths, Pages, Webers), some of the relatively new members (Alewine, Beck, McDermott, McDuffy, Mofford, Sherman), some really new members (Bryant, Downing) as well as all those others somewhere in between and even a possible very, very new member, Mike Marty, who showed up to give us a trial run. As the Becks and McDermotts found out in 2016, one breakfast makes you a member.

.

Conversation kept everyone busy and sometimes you get TMI, as those of us who found out that Leonard Buote has animated conversations with either himself or his showerhead , during his daily shower.  Don’t believe us, just ask Hunni Bun Buote.  There was so much talking, along with the eating, that the sun had come out when folks started to leave.  Wonder where we will go for the next breakfast??
