(10/8) Port of San Pedro & (10/9) At Sea

Embarkation Day and First Day at Sea

Everyone in the group of 39 made their own arrangements to get to San Pedro and the FRuby Princess. Glenn and Patty even started a couple of days early and stayed at the Queen Mary on Thursday and Friday nights. Our paths crossed occasionally during embarkation and around the ship, but we didn’t see all the smiling faces (or at least most of them!) until 5:30pm, meeting time in the Adagio bar. Donna and Harold had suggested this as a daily meeting point from 5:30 to 6:30 so that the group could touch base and make any plans of things they might want to do as a whole or in smaller groups.

At 6:30 the McIntoshes and Crooks headed out for the dinner buffet. A large group headed down tothe Michelangelo Dining Room only to find a very long line waiting. So we headed up to the DaVinci Dining a shorter line for the 7:30pm opening. The Sommars and Converses chose to skip the lines and head up to the Crown Grill for steak. The Priebes had a reservation for a group of 10 at 7:45 at Da Vinci. Somehow we all ended up in Da Vinci around the same time – the Priebe group; the Watsons and Finches; a table of 8 including the Crowthers, the Glenores, Harold and Donna and the Webers. There was even a Buote sighting.

Some vague plans were made for Sunday, but it was mainly a day of relaxation and running into others in one place or another – mostly in one eating establishment or another. The weather has been on the cool and cloudy side and most of us have done some exploring on the ship. This is a “Formal” night sheip-wide so everyone will be in their dressy clothes for dinner no matter where they eat. We expect to see some tuxedoes and a variety of cocktail attire among the ladies.
