The weather in Santa Barbara was cool and cloudy, although we finally saw some sun towards the late afternoon. The Graysons and Priebes and the Glenores had signed up for the trolley tour which takes about 1 1/2 hours. Harold and Donna went to Solvang – more Christmas shopping – and returned to the ship just in time to board before we pulled out, later than they had been scheduled. (This is additional proof that taking a ship organized tour is the way to go, as they cannot leave without you.) A large number of us individually took the electric bus up State Street into the Downtown area and either walked back or picked up a return bus along the way. The Sommars and Webers ran into each other at a coffee/potty stop at, of all places, McDonald’s. The Converses went shopping in town as well. Willie Nagle, her daughter Jamie and friend Wendy stayed on board and participated in shipboard events like trivia and “carpet bowling.” Don and Bev just stayed on board to relax. Vance Weir read a whole book.
We had to adjust our meeting place to another bar area for the last days of the trip due to a scheduling conflict in the Adagio bar, so we were off to the Explorers for a change of scenery. Although the Glenores and Webers had reserved for dinner at the Salty Dog, they were unimpressed upon arrival, so luckily Harry Finch talked the dining room into tables for the additional COTV members and we participated in the Italian Dinner celebration. After dinner, some headed to shows and others headed to bed.
