We Met At Paradise!
July has more often than not been designated as the Lou Long/Paradise Chevrolet lunch run and has taken us near and far as dictated by Lou and now, Lou and Julee’s imagination. This year, just to complicate his life, Paradise had the local showcase for the new C-8 at the dealership just 3 days before the run. Two major events to plan and participate in with short notice and in a tight time frame made the lunch run a little less of a hot button for many club members it seems, as turn-out was not as large as we have seen in the past few years. In order to help Lou fit all of this planning (as well as a normal work schedule) into his life some of the Leadership Team members offered to oversee the run part if he and Julee selected and arranged the lunch part.
No one seemed to get an exact count of the cars at Paradise for the photo op, but it was probably closer to 40 than our 50 + in the last two years. Anyhow, for Kevin and Trish Gage, new members on their first MLR, it was still a smorgasbord of great cars to look at and photograph. About 37 cars went on the drive and 34 cars stayed for the lunch. Because the main event is really coming to Paradise, looking at all the cars, eating a donut and taking photos, it was determined to make the drive an easy one so that we didn’t lose any cars, as has sometimes happened, so no fancy turns or scenic routes were selected.
However, even the best laid plans can go off track as some schedule changes were required at departure and this put us at the luncheon venue earlier than the restaurant wanted us to be there. Sometimes management at both ends make independent decisions that throw us all off . Anyhow, it all worked out pretty well – no one got lost, we eventually got into the Old Spaghetti Factory in San Marcos and everyone got to eat their 3 course lunch with all their new and old friends.
Thanks to Lou and Julee for all their hard work Wonder what we will do in 2020!!!
